The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

The little prince is a short book about a little boy from a little planet, who leaves on a flock of birds tied together like balloons. He goes to many planets, sees adults in their work crazy, power-crazy forms, and then comes to earth and lands in the desert, where a pilot has crashed and is repairing his plane.  The pilot is the narrator of the book. and the story Is told from his perspective. The Little Prince awes the pilot with his perspective on life and his rose. The little prince was originally french and was published in English and french when it was first published. It is definitely one of my favorites. Is it yours?

A Walk To Remember By; Nicholas Sparks

Happy June!
Last Year about february A Wrinkle in time came out. You are probably thinking, What does A Wrinkle in Time have to do with A Walk To Remember? Well I am getting there. So i emailed a few of my friends and asked them if they would read A.W.I.N. With me and then go see the movie together. So we read it and thus my Book Club was born. So we have been steady going for a while, we have been going for 18 months now. Ok this months book is A Walk To Remember. I started it late at night read ten pages, picked it up the next day and finished it before 6;00. i hope that reflects the fact that it is good. I enjoyed the characters, and to be honest I went in to the book knowing it was a romance. So knew they wouldn't be in love already..... ya know stuff like that! I was a little thrown off when he started saying how annoying and weird this girl was, i mean why would he say stuff like that. I started thinking that she was the weird girl no one likes and he would fall for a cheerleader or something. but overall I love the story, how he reacts to things, and her sense of humor. i hope I didn't   give some of the book away. I probably did. but there are always more surprises. :)
overall i absolutely loved this book.

The Giver by Lous Lowry

The Giver is a book I really enjoyed, but there are people who just did not like it.  It can really be 50-50.  This book is set in a dystopian world, where babies are born to be taken away and given to a random family when they turn one. And no one knows what rain, joy, colors, or Christmas are.  At the ceremony of twelve, when all of the 11 year olds turn twelve and receive their jobs, one boy is skipped over. his name is Jonas. At the end of the ceremony, he is finally called up and he is told that he is going to take on the job of the giver.  turns out no one really knows what that job is, only that it is important.  Jonas learns to love, and to see things that his friends can't. He experiences great pain and suffering, but also joy and happiness.
This book is maybe for 11-13+ but the older you are, the more you get from it, an 11 year old may hear the story and not think about it, a thirty year old may have a similar response, but maybe not.  I almost a teenager, felt like I was there, because I was 12 when I read it, I felt like I knew what it was like to be different from other kids, and not like the game war because I knew what it really was.  Bottom line, I felt connected with this book.
